Little bit of collaboration

The Bristol Knitivist were out in force a few sunday's ago. We decked GF Bridge with knitty things that have a sunshine or camoflage theme

I contributed a camo rail cosy topped of with camo pom poms and a rail cosy with natural camo butterflies (although as Twee as Volk pointed out, these actually look more like squid that butterflies!)

And here are some of the other fabbo knitty bits from the other knitivists

I go passed the bridge every Monday after choir praccy and quite a few peices are still there which is ruddy marvelous

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

...It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Crochet Empire.
During the battle, Nanna D managed to steal secret patterns to the Empire's ultimate weapon, a Yoda Hat and an R2D2 Hat, both with enough power to destroy an entire planet.
Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Nanna D races home aboard her sofa, custodian of the stolen patterns that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy....

Pressies and Penguins

I've had to put in a lot of extra time at work recently, which has meant this poor ol' blog has been neglected some what. But those Birthday's keep on coming and I just keep on Knitting so I managed to duck out of work on time today and have spent a good couple of hours going through pics of what I've made since August.

Here's a few of the things I've made for chums and Family.

Marion got a tortoise

Daniel Got a Barca Hat and Fingerless gloves

Mat got a Swans Hat and Fingerless gloves

Dad gets a hat and a beard

Lizzy gets a Mama and Bubby penguin (although looks like Evan has claimed them so will have to give her something else!)

Siany gets a headband, fingerless mitts and beard

Ooooh that Nanna, She gets everywhere

I'm having a very busy month at work and in my knitting world. To be honest, I'm feeling a bit exhausted but I'm lucky enough to see the recognition of my efforts.

This month, Nanna D's blog is featured in Knit Today Magazine!

I am super super chuffed about this. I bought my copy on the weekennd and its chockablock full of patterns for crimbo knits. Love it.

Bobby and I have also spotted that other peeps have taken pics of my yarn bombing and put them up on their sites or flickr accounts. Here are the ones we've found.

Nanna D gets BUSTED

You know I said I was going to ease off on the Yarn Bombing? I LIED!
Although Millennium Square is a great space for events and large gatherings, I sometimes think it’s a little bland and sterile – A perfect candidate for a bright Yarn Bomb.

I decided to put my piece on a lampost slap bang in the middle of the square. I put it up at around 7am this morning (Monday). While I was sewing it up I was approached by two chaps. I was a bit nervous (as per usual on a guerrilla knitting expedition) but was presently surprised when one of them started to talk to me.

Him: Are you the person brightening up our city?
Me: I’m trying!
Him: Fantastic, its brilliant.

Confidence at an all time high, I proceeded to finish off my bombing. Then from the north east of the square, a security guard from @bristol approached. The convo went something like this:

Him: Excuse me, do you have permission to put that there?
Me: (Ooooh Pants!) Its only a little bit of Yarn, it will be gone by the end of the day.

Him: It is pretty, but you aren’t allowed to put that up here. There are cameras all around and you’ll be caught. You need to take it down.
Me: How about I just leave it here for a few hours? I’ll be back this afternoon and take it down?
Him: My advice to you is you should take it down. This is private property, you’re on camera and you’ll be in trouble.
Me: It won’t be there for long, I’ll come back this afternoon.

We carried on repeating ourselves for a bit and then both headed off from ‘the scene of the crime’. I must admit, he was a very nice security man. I have a lot of respect for him, he wasn't agressive in telling me to take it down in the slightest.

So what happens next?

I’m sure it will be taken down pretty smartish, either by the nice security man or one of his colleagues. If not should I got back and take it down myself?

I’m not so worried about its short life, I just don’t want to be banged up for Crimbo! I’m going to have to do some research to see if there have been any fines dished out or successful prosecutions against Guerilla knitters, lets hope not!

Anyways, an exciting way to start the week.

Etsy up and running

Should have done this a while ago, but knew it was going to be a bit tedious and time consuming to set up. I set today aside to get it sorted once and for all. Nanna D Knits now has an Etsy account!

I've put a few bits of stock I've been building up on there. Fingers crossed people like them and more to the point can find them on there.

BEARDS!

So I've started to build up some stock to sell on etsy and maybe at stb.

As a natural progression from the knitted tache, I have moved on to beards. I did my first few at Coz's bday gathering. They went down a storm!
